You hope someone at work, or your friends, remembers your birthday...but its a week later and they didn’t.
Hey I mean its just a birthday, and its not like I haven’t had a few. Still, I try and remember theirs and do lunch or something.
Just kind of a letdown of my coworkers...actually this whole company culture sucks for stuff like that. Celebration here means more work.
Friends too though, harsh.
p.s. not going for a woe is me vibe here oppo. Just venting a little.

Been there done that, especially when motherfuckers know it’s your birthday because it says so on Snapchat.

I keep my employees’ birthdays on my calendar. I think it’s important to at least recognize it.
Happy Birthday (belatedly)

Good on you for that, it definitely helps with morale and lets them know you care.

In the long run it was for the best, better pay and generally happier with the new place.

Thats good to hear.
At this current job I got a reprimand because my work had been slipping as my father’s was dying of ALS and it was interfering with my production, basically asked me if I wanted to keep my job...(I was living with them and helping them out a lot) That same night after the reprimand I came home and watched him die. Rough day.

Ouch. I guess if I learned anything from my experience it was I should have tested the waters a lot earlier. Not saying leave, but sometimes you have to see how a new situation could be like.

As a teacher with a summer birthday, yep. Happy belated birthday! Mine is next Friday. I don’t expect you to remember that though :)

Thanks. Funny thing is, I’ve evolved to a place where I now hope they don’t remember mine because I dont want them to think they need to do anything about it. I just don’t want them to feel awkward.

I’m pretty sure none of my co workers knows when my birthday is.

Happy late birthday!
Honestly though, for me, your situation sounds ideal. I hate being the center of attention, so my birthday hasn’t really been something I push out there.

In today’s work environment, unless you celebrate everyone’s birthday the same, it could be construed as a hostile work place. Ask me how I know.
Private invitations to lunch with a few friends work great. Cake in the office for one person and not another means trouble these days.
Sometimes it’s better that people don’t remember too many personal details. But I’m old and grouchy now.
